Am currently in University and thus, constantly, unsure of my future/everything.
I am not really the writer type, but I do love to read, and I've found that writing is the easiest way to express myself.
At most hours of the day, I can be found listening to music. I am constantly trying to find new artists and acquiring new music. It is one of my passions. I have 'staple artists' that I stick to and listen to over and over. Some of these include Hikaru Utada, Vienna Teng, Kate Bush, Bjork, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Madonna, or whatever else I feel like listening to at the moment. But yes, as you can tell, I generally like creative female singer-songwriters. Or just very distinctive singer-songwriter voices, be they male or female. I tend to like things that are very pretty and melodic and simple. Even if it's just a piano and vocals, if the melody is gorgeous, I'll like it.
I also love to read and watch movies. I like stories that grab you in some way, whether it be a specific character or characters that I become attached to, or an intriguing story or mystery, I'll read it, and most likely enjoy it. The only books I've hated are one's that I've been forced to read for school. I suppose I have a thing for tragedies and more somber-type stories, and I think that tone is reflected in my writing. It's not that I'm an especially unpleasant and/or depressing person. I guess it's just that those are the kinds of stories that interest me, and especially the truly tragic, dramatic one's stick with me. Some of my favorites include The Virgin Suicides, Howl's Moving Castle, Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World, and of course Harry Potter.
As for movies, I tend to like offbeat films, but there's really no criteria when it comes to movies. I can never reallly tell what I'll be interested in until I actually watch the previews, or get some sense of what the movie will be like. I suppose I have a soft spot for escapist/fantasy-ish offbeat whimsical type films. Some of my favorites include Marie Antoinette, Amelie, The Bourne films, Kiki's Delivery Service/Spirited Away/Howl's Moving Castle, and many many other's. The 2005 movie version of Pride & Prejudice is probably my favorite film of all time. I love the acting, the sets, the camera work and the music.
Lately I've been totally obsessed with tv shows, specifically Gossip Girl and Dollhouse. I tend to like shows with witty banter/dialogue and lovable characters, such as Gilmore Girls, or just shows with intriguing plots and mysteries. The TV show format is probably the best suited to me personally since my attention span usually only allows me to sit around for 45 minutes to an hour at a time before I have to get up and do something else.
